Q: How do the DryView Laser Imaging Systems by Imation work?
Imation DryView Laser Imaging Systems use a specially developed, diagnostic-quality, photothermographic imaging process to develop a silver-based photographic film without requiring any wet chemistry. When exposed to light from an infrared laser diode, a light-sensitive layer on the 3M™ DryView™ Laser Imager Film by Imation™ forms a latent image. The film requires only exposure to moderate heat instead of wet chemistry-based processing to form the image. The film is heat-developed as it passes through the DryView Laser Imager's developer. It then passes through the system's scanning densitometer and into the receiving tray. The internal densitometer is a key element in the 3M™ Automatic Image Quality Control process by Imation™. This fully automated system calibrates the imager's electronics to ensure that contrast, density and other image quality parameters meet preset user preferences--film to film and lot to lot.
